Welcome, kids, to our new home. Since early 1997, "The Adams Report" has perched over at RAD Video Online, but nothing good lasts forever. When it came time to leave my former home at RAD, the Unzipped.net folks were kind enough to offer me a new place to reside. To paraphrase Dorothy Parker, I don't need much space-just enough room to lay my hat. And a few friends.
Moving on ...
It's been a slow summer here in the porn capitol of the world. The latest big news would be the resounding success of the third annual Bad Boys Pool Party on Saturday, August 12. A fundraiser for the Aid for AIDS Joey Stefano Fund, the bash raised nearly 30,000 smackeroos. That's right-$30,000. For the last three years I've been unable to attend for one reason or another, but apparently a good time was had by most. "It was very crowded," one attendee told me, "but I had a lot of fun. Last year it was kind of cold and drizzly, but the weather was perfect this time. I just wish it hadn't been quite so packed."
If you'd attended you would have had the chance to ogle Thom Barron, who traveled all the way from Germany; real-life loverboys Jason Branch and Blake Harper; reclusive Colt super-stud Carl Hardwick; newcummers Jackson Price and George Fleece (you'll be seeing a lot of both in the coming months); hot-to-trot Nick Young and Michael Brandon, who doffed his duds and pressed the flesh completely naked-which was quite a sight, I'm sure, as Mr. Brandon is hung like a water buffalo.
Busy director Thor Stephans brought along Steve Cassidy (Unzipped Monthly's August "Trouser Arouser"); October coverboy Dean Phoenix dazzled everyone right and left with his delightful grin ("His smile is the only thing that could possibly distract me from his body," one of my spies quipped); "Freshman of the Year" Jeremy Tucker was also an attendee.
And the name-dropping continues: Directrix Chi Chi LaRue held court poolside amid her usual entourage; sex pig Zak Spears was a constant center of attention; muscled 'n hairy Chris Steele made more than a few fans very happy; superagent David Forest turned up with clients Bo Garrett, Noah Walker (22 years old, 6'2" and nine inches, believe it or not) and newcummer bodybuilder Duke Miller, who will be making his high-profile XXX debut in a soon-to-be-announced project; Jeff Palmer (Unzipped's August cover-stud) signed autographs and, as is customary, invited fans to suck him off (and they did, one by one); Eric Evans and real-life boyfriend Brent Banes made for a lovely couple; Michael Knight also decided to walk around nude; Men of Odyssey honcho Bob East pressed the flesh; lovely, lovely, lovely Ashton Ryan dazzled even amid such luscious scenery; Lex Kyler lent a helping hand; Joshua Scott (whose LABoy.com was an event sponsor) brought along a sexy entourage; and artist Jon Planas once again demonstrated his bodypainting skills by decorating Mssrs. Barron and Fleece.
Porn model Will Clark has orchestrated all of this for three years running, and he's been doing yeoman's work. FYI: The Aid for AIDS Joey Stefano Fund assists current and former members of the gay adult video community who have been disabled by AIDS. That thirty grand will help a lot of people who desperately need it.
Heard Around Town
* Bi-video director Anthony Rose is turning his attention back to XXX now that his mockumentary Full Frontal is in the can and seeking distribution. "I'll be filming Anthony Rose's Encyclopedia of Erotica 2-5 at the end of August," he tells me. Four movies at once? "Call me a glutton for punishment," he quipped.
* Now that Blue Blake's directorial debut, Demolition Daddy is steaming up VCRs around the country, he's moving into production on his second film. Mr. Blake is a big kitten in real life, in contrast to his rough-and-tumble onscreen persona, and I managed to pry from him the title of the new film-Married Cops Do. "Isn't it precious?" he laughed. I'd say yes.
* Check out Studio 2000's Head Strong for proof that XXX films can harmoniously balance a little plot with the sex. Head Strong tells the story of a successful-but-frustrated pulp fiction writer (Tommy Lord) whose creation (played by Spike) comes alive and interferes with Lord's real life, including driving away his one true love (Aussie sex bomb Dylan Reece). Lord, Spike and Reece handle their lines with aplomb-even the ever-lovely Kurt Young turns up in a non-sex role as Lord's agent. Mr. Young's got enough talent that he can toss off his lines and still make them work, although as usual he's distinctly low-key. The film was written by Studio 2000 regular Tyler Adams, and helmed by their house director, Derek Kent.
* Ouch-Ken Ryker recently broke his hand (or snapped a muscle or something) as he whipped himself into shape for his upcoming film. Not to worry, though-he'll have plenty of time to heal before cameras start rolling at the end of the year.
* The scramble for the cover of the Adam Gay Video Directory has become an annual rite in these parts. Past coverboys for this industry bible include Jeff Stryker (1999), Sonny Markham (1998), Ken Ryker (1997) and last year's golden delicious duo, Lane Fuller and Axel Garrett. The identity of this year's popular, award-winning cover model is top secret for the time being, but here's a hint: he's named elsewhere in this column.
* Hey, why not a couple of blind items to inaugurate the first appearance of "The Adams Report" on Unzipped.net? Here we go: Which entertainment industry veteran (whose TV show is heading into its third season this fall) hires every one of our boys as soon as they make themselves available? Which former teen heartthrob (recently out of a job) has attended XXX industry parties and award shows for a number of years-in secret?
